So, what exactly is a bespoke caterer?
We launched in 2012, with the aim of being London’s only truly bespoke event caterers. But what does this really mean?
The term bespoke can be defined as ‘custom made’, most famously used in the fashion world. Bespoke tailoring uses a pattern that is individually created by a skilled craftsman for a client. Today the term is used across many sectors, and it remains one of the main pillars of Caiger & Co’s philosophy.
To us, bespoke means bringing our client’s vision to life, and as no two visions are the same, every event we create is wildly different. Being a bespoke caterer essentially means creating custom-made experiences for our clients. To do that, we first need the right people…
Working with Caiger & Co means working with some of the best chefs and event planners in London. Alix Caiger leads the team, she brings experience, creativity, a natural flare for cooking & a practical eye. Alix has handpicked the Caiger team, each member brings something different to the table. The Caiger development chef has curated the core, seasonal menu with Alix, and is always on hand to listen to the dreams and desires of clients. Bella Haycraft Mee’s years of training in some of London’s best restaurants means that she can create dishes to suit diverse budgets and event concepts- anything from 007 parties, VIP press launches to glamorous wedding receptions. Our Head Chef, Head of Events, and Event Managers will work together daily at Caiger HQ, or online, discussing new food trends, sustainability tips, hybrid event advise, plus more. Each brings with them a wealth of knowledge from diverse backgrounds, however all share a love of great food and memorable experiences. Once a brief comes through the inbox, we pool our knowledge, ideas and creativity to create a bespoke quote for you.
So how is a bespoke catering quote created?
By choosing Caiger & Co for your event, you can be expected to be asked questions, lots of them. We don’t just mean questions like, ‘how many vegetarians will there be’ although obviously that is very important and we will be asking you that! But, say if you are getting married, we may ask you ‘How did you two meet?’, ‘What is your favourite restaurant in London?’, ‘Are there any places in the world that hold significance for you both, tell us about that….’ By asking these questions, we can get to understand you on a deeper level, and create a menu that is custom made for you. The Caiger team will then work together, speaking with our suppliers, and write a menu based on your likes, dislikes, hopes and memories. We will send you over your quote, whether that be a vegan wedding feast, or a nine course tasting menu that nods to all your favourite holiday destinations, or a champagne reception in which the canapés are designed to reflect the art on the walls of the venue. Next, you have the chance to share your thoughts, and we will go from there, setting up a tasting if you want, and discussing all the details of the day and night.
Bespoke catering however isn’t just for the romantic moments in our lives. We have found that bespoke corporate catering can be hugely effective in injecting some creativity into your brand. Often companies will come to us with an idea, they have a premiere they need catering for, a press launch, or they need a food and drink hamper to showcase a product. We can create dishes, drinks and whole event concepts that will reflect your company and the message of the moment. Menus will be created with your corporate theme in mind, and of course we will incorporate your company values into the overall catering experience.
Hopefully now our ethos ‘Your Vision, Our Expertise’, holds a bit more meaning. Creating bespoke menus is one of the most rewarding and fun parts our work, and we can’t wait to hear your vision.
