Virtual Entertainment Ideas

CaigerandCo • Oct 26, 2020

Back in March the UK events industry was at the start of its Covid-19 Journey. Cancellations came pilling in, and with that the nature of the events landscape began to change. While we wait for the live events industry to begin again, one thing we have all realised in this hiatus, is the importance of connections with others. Be that at work, visiting friends, taking time to celebrate the small things, or not missing out on the big celebrations and life landmarks that have of course occurred this year regardless of Covid.

The events industry is full of creative individuals, who thrive off challenges, and have approached this as you would expect… they have sought out a solution. Event managers across the globe have for last 7 months, been working on developing virtual platforms and ideas in order to be able to host events virtually.

So as the world of live events saw continuous cancellations and postponements, the world of online vents came to life. From the everyday remote office meet ups, to sporting events, cooking classes, pub quizzes…. The list goes on!

Zoom of course became the overnight success story, with month on month growth boasting 100,000 new subscribers a quarter. At the ‘Zoomtopia’ event last week Zoom announced a new events marketplace, and we can be sure with the launch of this the world of ticketed virtual events will become a bigger more competitive marketplace. On top of this we have seen event tech start-ups pursuing valuations close to 2 billion dollars in their first year.

So what does this spell for the UK events industry? We would suggest the start of the Virtual Events Revolution. With virtual options ranging from virtual venues, virtual reality events with tours of bars, art galleries etc all of these ideas mark the start of joining not only households and offices, but countries and nationalities together as well.

With all of this in mind, we haven’t been sitting still. Our first version of this was in March with our incredible BBQ boxes and dinner party kits. As restrictions lifted we created versions of these for intimate events, and micro weddings. Then this summer we began work on our virtual Christmas party planning. With working from home sill ongoing, and cases on the rise again the UK. We put our thinking caps on to make sure we could still help you all to celebrate Christmas. So this year we are planning virtual parties!
